July 2009

The arrival of 'FM10' Brilliant, my life is over.

Newly appointed Harrogate Town manager Philip Bexley takes charge.

The friendlies are done and dusted as we head in to August, i feel my first month in charge was a good one, and successful in finding out my strongest side and bringing in new blood.

Not the best of Friendly campaigns despite winning the first two;2-0 and 1-0 against Sutton Coldfield and Harrogate Railway respectively, a draw with Glen Hoddle's Academy saw the last of the good run in the friendlies followed by 4 defeats to greater opposites, Leyton Orient, Lincoln City, and Crewe Alexandra. and the not so lesser opponent of Bromley.

I feel i have done well in the transfer market, not a single penny spent due to no funds available. Brilliant, a club in debt. Fantastic first job.

Was still able to bring in some household names such as Lawrie Dudfield and Michael Standing.
38 year old fox in the box John Norman seems to be a good signing to bring maturity to the squad.
The new kids in the side of 17-18 years of age are Jordan Barnes, Joe Tidey and Fraser Ablett. Finally to finish the transfers a spaniard that i can't spell. He's not to bad. 31, bit of a physical midfielder.
Only one departure of Matt Unwin, purely to allow for more wages. Mutual termination was agreed.

With no season tickets sold, the crowd as always at whetherby road isn't to be desired. hopefully the Bexley Era will change that...

3 Days to go...

3 days until my life will be taken over yet again by the glorious sega/SIgames creation that is, Football Manager now into it's 6th year with 2010. Answer me this, 'where would we be without the Collyer brothers?' Who knows, probably still fannying about with the cheap and tacky Premier Manager, that's a scary thought!

Me and my good friend of almost 20 years have taken the challenge of taking minnows Harrogate Town F.C from the Conference North to the dizzy heights of the Premiership and European Football in the new football manager. It's not going to be easy, it's going to be gruelling, filled with leaps and bounds, tears of elation and devastation, and thrills and spills.

I am looking forward to working with the Yorkshire minnows, with such star talent in the team with great local connections, such as former Hull City favourites Matthew Bloomer, and failed boxer Curtis Woodhouse. Not forgetting former million pound man, Trevor Benjamin. Yes, that Leicester City reject that got Peter Taylor sacked in the turn of the millenium, now mixing it up with the builders in the conference north.

When people hear Harrogate, people think Harrogate Spa, Sulphur and water and stuff. What i hear, is potential. Wetherby Road will be rocking in the Premiership!

3 Days to go until i start my new employment.

Coach Bexley.
